Created in 1904 by Louis Cartier for Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who wanted to read the time while flying his aircraft, the Santos is widely regarded as one of the first wristwatches ever produced. The 39.8mm stainless steel case features a contrasting black ADLC-coated bezel and the signature exposed screws that have defined the Santos silhouette for over a century, with the case back secured by eight additional screws. Inside is the Manufacture Caliber 1847 MC, an automatic movement with approximately 40 hours of power reserve, paired with luminescent steel sword-shaped hands and a date function. The steel crown is set with a green faceted synthetic spinel that matches the dial. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, and the watch is supplied with two interchangeable straps via Cartier's QuickSwitch system, a black rubber strap and a green leather strap, both fitted to the same interchangeable steel deployant buckle.
