Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Motley White

This is a DiW (Designa Individual Watches) Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, a genuine Rolex rebuilt by the German customiser DiW in its "Motley" finish, here in white. To be clear about what that means: DiW starts with an authentic Rolex Daytona and replaces the case and various components with its own forged carbon and custom parts, so the watch is real Rolex at its core but is a customised piece rather than a factory Rolex product. Motley is DiW's marbled carbon treatment, and in white it gives the case a pale, stone-like pattern that is unique to each individual watch.

Underneath the custom exterior it keeps what makes a Daytona a Daytona: the genuine Rolex automatic chronograph movement, the three sub-dials for timing, and the tachymeter scale for reading average speed. The forged carbon case is also notably light on the wrist compared with the standard steel, which is part of the appeal of a DiW build.

DiW watches are made in small numbers and to order, which is why collectors seek them out, they want something one-off rather than a watch seen on every wrist. Because the case and components are aftermarket, though, the watch falls outside Rolex's warranty and service programme, Rolex does not service modified watches.
