LOUIS VUITTON NIGO CHRISTOPHER DAMIER BACKPACK EBENE BROWN

The Louis Vuitton x Nigo Christopher Backpack is from LV², the 2020 collaboration between Virgil Abloh and Japanese streetwear designer Nigo, and it layers the house's codes exactly the way the collaboration was built to. The body is Giant Damier Ebene, the enlarged version of Louis Vuitton's brown checkerboard canvas, and the top flap is topped with Nigo's dripping ice cream motif rendered in the classic Monogram canvas. Two Louis Vuitton patterns on one bag, drawn from 2000s Tokyo streetwear, is the whole idea.

The Christopher itself is Louis Vuitton's take on a rugged hiking rucksack, a tall, roomy backpack with a crossover top and natural cowhide leather trim that will patina with age, finished here with black hardware. It is as practical as it is recognisable: adjustable shoulder straps, two external side pockets, and a well-organised interior with an iPad pocket, a zip pocket and two flat pockets.
