Louis Vuitton Horizon Light Up Speaker

The Louis Vuitton Horizon Light Up Speaker is the house's take on portable audio, and it looks far more like an objet d'art than a piece of tech. Its conical, spinning-top shape is drawn from Louis Vuitton's Toupie bag, a Nicolas Ghesquière design, which is why it is so often compared to a flying saucer. The body is polished and matte stainless steel wrapped in perforated, embossed Monogram leather, about 18cm across and 1kg, so it feels like a solid object rather than a plastic gadget.

The "Light Up" is the point. A top ring of tempered glass holds 23 Monogram Flowers lit by 23 LEDs, and a middle ring carries 12 engraved "LOUIS VUITTON" letters lit by another 12, and both come alive in a colour show synchronised to whatever is playing, cycling through seven graduated hues. It is as much a centrepiece as a speaker.

It backs that up with real audio: a 3-inch woofer and two tweeters, 360-degree sound when sat on its dock, and around 15 hours of playback, with Bluetooth, AirPlay 2 and Wi-Fi, controllable through the Louis Vuitton Connect app. A removable leather strap and travel pouch make it genuinely portable.
