The Franck Muller Vanguard Seven Days Skeleton "Color Dream" takes the brand's seven-day skeleton and runs colour through it. The movement is fully open-worked, so you read the time straight off the mechanism, and in this version its bridges and components are finished in vibrant colour rather than monochrome metal, which is what the "Color Dream" name refers to and what sets it apart from the plain skeleton.

This reference is cased in black ceramic, 45mm in the Vanguard's signature tonneau shape, a hard, scratch-resistant material that stays matte-black and light on the wrist. Behind the sapphire crystal, the hand-finishing is the point: the bridges are hand-chamfered, microblasted and satin-brushed, the wheels circular-grained, all visible front and back.

The engineering headline is the power reserve. The hand-wound calibre MVT FM 1740-VS runs two barrels in series to hold around seven days, roughly 168 hours, so the watch can sit off the wrist for the better part of a week and keep running, with hours, minutes, small seconds and the date at 6 o'clock.
