The Franck Muller Vanguard Gravity, reference V45 T GR CS SQT CAR ORCAR, is a skeletonised tourbillon in a carbon case. The Vanguard is Franck Muller's bold tonneau shape, a modern take on the brand's curved barrel cases, and here it is rendered in lightweight carbon at 44 by 53.7mm. The dial is opened right up so the movement is on full show, with the orange accents the ORCAR code refers to running through the skeleton.

The centrepiece is the tourbillon, which sits low on the dial and turns in its cage to offset the effects of gravity on the movement, with the hours and minutes read off the upper half. It runs a hand-wound skeleton calibre with around five days of power reserve, visible front and back through sapphire crystal, and it is water resistant to 30 metres on a rubber and textile strap. Carbon keeps a watch this size light on the wrist and highly resistant to knocks and scratches.
