Franck Muller Vanguard Ref. V45 T GR CS 5N BC5N - N010

Description
The Franck Muller Vanguard Gravity Tourbillon is built around one of the brand's signature inventions, and this is the rose gold version. At 6 o'clock sits an oversized carrousel tourbillon with a deliberately non-circular, egg-shaped cage, where most tourbillons hide a small round carriage, Franck Muller enlarged it and made it the centre of the watch, turning once a minute to average out the effect of gravity on the balance, which is where the name comes from. It is visible through curved sapphire crystals front and back.
The case is 18k rose gold, Franck Muller's warm 5N alloy, in the Vanguard's tonneau shape at 44mm, curved to follow the wrist despite its size. This is the version without gem-setting, so the focus falls entirely on the gold, the finishing and the open mechanism rather than on stones, high watchmaking in a sporty, contemporary case.
Inside is the hand-wound calibre MVT FM CS-03, a carrousel tourbillon movement developed in-house, with 223 components, 25 jewels and a five-day power reserve, roughly 120 hours, so it holds a charge for far longer than most tourbillons. It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour, water resistant to 30 metres, on an alligator strap with an 18k rose gold buckle. At Konesseur, every Franck Muller is authenticated and inspected in Dubai before listing, and the UAE's 5% VAT is a meaningful advantage on a piece at this level.
