Breguet Classique Ref. 5247BR/29/9V6 - 40mm

Description
The Breguet Classique Chronograph 5247BR is a hand-wound chronograph in 18k rose gold, and its dial is the reason to want it. It is grand feu enamel, fired in a kiln at high temperature, a craft so demanding that very few houses still practise it, and it produces a white with a depth and permanence that painted or lacquered dials cannot match. Against it sit Breguet's own Arabic numerals, blued steel Breguet hands with their hollowed moon tips, and a red tachymeter scale running through the centre with a matching red chronograph hand.
Hidden in the enamel is a secret signature, the engraved mark Abraham-Louis Breguet introduced in the early 1800s to defend his watches against counterfeits, visible only at certain angles. The chronograph is read from two registers, a 30-minute totaliser at 3 o'clock and small seconds at 9.
Inside is the manually wound Calibre 533.3, built around a column wheel, the traditional and more expensive way to control a chronograph, with roughly 48 hours of power reserve, and its architecture descends from the Lemania 2310, one of the most admired chronograph movements ever made. It is visible through a sapphire caseback, in a 39mm case water resistant to 30 metres, on an alligator strap. At Konesseur, every watch is authenticated and inspected in Dubai before listing, and the UAE's 5% VAT keeps a piece at this level below European retail.
